Sailing to Anegada

During our stay at Diamond Reef we took a day trip to the nearby island of Anegada on a speed boat. It was stunning, our pictures can barely do it justice. It felt like the Maldives with a touch of that rugged Virgin Island scenery that the region is so well-known for.

In Anegada you won’t find hoardes of tourists and tons of vendors. Instead, you’ll be struck by the unspoiled landscape, the expansive, flat vistas that seemingly stretch the the end of the world.

Endless Blue

The island, being the only coral island in the Virgin Islands' volcanic chain, offers a unique topography. It's relatively flat, which is a stark contrast to the hilly, rugged profiles of its neighbors. This flatness contributes to an expansive feel, making the island seem larger than its actual size. The highest point is just about 28 feet above sea level, so no towering hills or mountains, allowing for uninterrupted views of the horizon.

The beaches here are simply otherworldly. They stretch for miles, with powdery, white sand that feels like flour under your feet. The water is an unbelievable shade of turquoise, so clear that you can see the vibrant marine life swimming just beneath the surface. The most famous beach, Cow Wreck Beach, is not just a feast for the eyes but also a hub for some interesting snorkeling opportunities. The name itself is derived from a historical shipwreck that was carrying cow bones, used for making buttons and other items, which got scattered along the beach. Cow Wreck is home to its famous beach bar where you can simply begin making your own drinks behind the bar, an honor system is observed to pay for drinks made. I Loved that!

The boat ride to Anegada was….Bumpy! Check the weather before-hand and dress so that you won’t mind getting soaked. If you easily get sea-sick then Dramamine is your friend.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
